We know how lucky we are to work in an industry where animals are number one. We're also painfully aware of just how many animals out there aren't lucky enough to have loving, caring, responsible owners, let alone clothing, toys, or fancy grooming products. This used to be our Gallery page, but we decided to limit the picture-posting to Facebook and use this space in a much more valuable way. From now on, we'll focus on providing information on various animal charities, to both inspire and motivate you to get involved with an organization that speaks to you.
We'll be spotlighting different organizations every few months. Check back from time to time!
Metropolitan Maltese Rescue is a non-profit corporation (501(c) (3)) dedicated to placing homeless Maltese and Maltese-mixes in loving, responsible, permanent homes. Our vision is to be an active partner of a no-kill community where there are no homeless pets.
Metropolitan Maltese Rescue (MetroMalts) is an all-volunteer organization founded in 1998 by a group of Maltese dog lovers in New York City. MetroMalts volunteers foster and place Maltese found as strays, surrendered by their owners, or rescued from shelters. We use every means at our disposal to keep Maltese out of shelters and in good forever-after homes. Every foster and permanent home is carefully screened. Information provided by potential adopters is used to make sure that our Maltese are placed with care-givers who are best suited to their individual personalities. We remain available after adoption to help resolve any concerns or problems that might arise.
We gladly accept donations of time, professional advice and care (such as veterinarians and trainers), and financial assistance. We welcome people who just love the breed and want to help. After all, that's how MetroMalts began.
MetroMalts is a proud member of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, Inc., a distinguished group of local shelter and rescue organizations dedicated to making ours a "no kill" city.
The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, Inc., founded in 2002 and powered by Maddie's Fund, The Pet Rescue Foundation, with support from the ASPCA, is a coalition of more than 150 animal rescue groups and shelters working with Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C) to end the killing of healthy and treatable cats and dogs at AC&C shelters.
To achieve that goal, the Alliance, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, helps its Alliance Participating Organizations (APOs) work to their highest potential to increase pet adoptions and spay/neuter rates, with the goal of transforming New York City into a no-kill community by 2015.
The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals is committed to seeing the day when no New York City dog or cat of reasonable health and temperament is killed merely because he or she does not have a home.
Companion Animal Advocates (CAA), is a non-profit, all volunteer organization primarily serving New Jersey residents. CAA is committed to keeping family pets from being surrendered to already crowded shelters because their owners can no longer care for them.
CAA is making a significant difference in the lives of so many people in our community - our own neighbors. We are proactively addressing day-to-day issues that every pet owner faces through the following initiatives: Pet Retention, Low-Cost Spay & Neuter, Adoption Advocacy, and Pet Safety.
While the organization itself is new, the people that make up the group have decades of collective experience in a variety of animal welfare areas. Most importantly, each volunteer has a passion for animals and the love and companionship they provide. That passion is key to the long-term success of CAA.
OUR VISION
"We envision a future where every pet has a family and every family can keep their pet."
